SNSD Members Transformed into Cheerleaders

SNSD Members Transformed into Cheerleaders! Japanese MV "Oh!"

Girls' Generation is drawing attention for their 5th Japanese single "Oh!" and its music video.
The Japanese movie for "Oh!" contains a similar concept as the Korean music video. All the members are dressed in cheerleading uniforms while dancing an adorable choreography.
In the Japanese version of "Oh!" there is a highlight where the girls say "Oppa I love you." The highlight of the song in Japanese sounds exactly the same as the Korean version's highlight. The language sounds almost exactly the same, creating a very smooth connection to the next line of lyrics.
It is only a mystery as to how well the Girls' Generation's 5th album will do in Japan.
People in the online community who saw the Japanese music video for "Oh!" responded with comments like, "Girls' Generation's music videos are always amazing whenever I watch it", "The members are so skilled at speaking Japanese!", "Their music videos always make my eyes happy regardless of how many times I watch them" and "Girls' Generation fighting!"

Girls’ Generation

Girls’ Generation (SNSD) ‘PAPARAZZI’ Music Video Release Gold Version

Girls’ Generation revealed another music video for their latest Japanese single “PAPARAZZI.”
The music video revealed is ‘Dance Edit Gold’ version of “PAPARAZZI” following the original and ‘Dance Edit’ version that features the difficult choreography is drawing a lot of attention.
‘Dance Edit’ version was a combination of the original version set dance along with the studio recording cut, however ‘Dance Edit Gold’ has all been recorded in the studio. The girls are seen in sexy black outfits coupling with pink gloves.
The music video exemplifies a high degree of intellectualism, coupled the retro and somber look of the trench coat, which has caught the eye of many of its viewers and critics.
The single to be released on June 27 is the fourth single to release in a year 2 months after the release of MR. TAXI in April of last year. The song is a fast-beast dance that has the most difficult choreography.
‘PAPARAZZI’ is noted to be produced a team of excellent musicians abroad. The mix is arranged by Grammy Award winner Miles Walker, who also worked with Beyonce. The mastering was handled by world-renowned Sterling Sound’s Tom Coyne.

Girls' Generation Push Japanese Dominatio

Girls' Generation Push Japanese Domination With 'Paparazzi,' 1 Million Albums Sold

Girls' Generation continues their path to global domination with a new Japanese single and a new chart accomplishment. The group, whom appears as Shojo Jidal on Japanese charts, rocketed to the No. 1 spot last week on the Japan Hot 100 with their high-energy Japanese track "Paparazzi" with sales now at 103,000, according to SoundScan Japan
The dance song peppered with fun English phrases ("Life is a party!" "Punkadelic crazy night!" "Boom boom boom!") premiered back in mid-June. The debut came via an almost seven minute music video (currently with over 7.6 million views) and a dance-only video (at 4.1 million). Appropriately, the visual jumps between shots of rabid photographers and the girls dancing in perfect nine-piece synchronization. The video plays as a stage performance for Girls' Generation. The show begins with the members whimsically prancing to Gene Kelly's classic version of "Singin' In The Rain"  before the real performance starts. In two different outfits, the girls perform their routine in movie-inspired getups incorporating eccentric costumes and even Marilyn Monroe's famous pink gloves.

The girls brought the film motif to their live performances which were spare most likely due to the group's many commitments outside of their music. Never the less, the girls still notched the top spot.

Girls' Generation latest chart accomplishment truly solidifies their leading of the K-pop girl group pack in Japan. Other popular groups like Kara, 2NE1, and After School have made attempts to break the lucrative industry to varying degrees of success. Mostly notably Kara is a big singles seller but has yet to claim a No. 1 on the Japan Hot 100.

With the additional 103,000 for "Paparazzi" Girls' Generation's total singles/download sales now stand at 645,000 (with their best selling track being "Gee" at 207,000) according to SoundScan Japan. The group's total album sales in Japan recently broke the million mark currently at 1,081,000 with the "Girl's Generation" record accounting for 715,000 of those sales.

The super-popular Wonder Girls have announced plans to infiltrate Japan this year. While they just released their latest English single with Akon, the quintet group could pose stiff competition. For now, though, Girls' Generation can enjoy life at the top this year.

Snoop Dogg Calls Girls' Generation

Snoop Dogg Calls Girls' Generation 'No Biscuits'

MANILA, Philippines - American rapper Snoop Dogg got the ire of fans of Girls' Generation when he tweeted what appears to be an insult against the Korean group.

Last July 8, Snoop Dogg tweeted, "Legs n. thighs. No biscuits" along with a photo of Girls' Generation that showed their legs but with blurred faces. "Biscuit" is a slang for butt.
Many fans found it offensive and posted angry comments and called Snoop Dogg names.
"snoop dog your songs are awesome and i love snsd. But please don't 'diss' a group when you are going to get bashed, think before you post something, just saying," one fan commented.
"Its ok to not like SNSD's figure, but he did not have to use such terms to describe women and disfigure their faces in the picture like that. He can express his opinions in a better way, why be so rude and insulting towards women in general? Thumbs down to him, so not cool," another fan posted on fan forum Soompi.com.
Others said they didn't find Snoop Dogg's post disrespectful.
One fan said, "I don't see it as him dissing them. He's just stating his own opinion. And like others have already stated, Americans have different preferences from Koreans."
Fans were surprised since Snoop Dogg was featured in one of the remix versions of Girls' Generation's song "The Boys."
After three days, Snoop Dogg tweeted about his post in the hope of clarifying the controversy.
He posted, "Today's lesson. from. Professor Snoop. Biscuits = ugly faces. My ladiez @GirlsGeneration. got beautiful faces. Legs n. thighs.
With this he posted a composite photo of himself together with Paris Hilton, Girls' Generation, and fried chicken.
While some fans were appeased by this, others said it was a lame explanation.

Girls' Generation

For idol stars who have reached the top usually enter the filming industry in order to prolong their top star statuses. This is so because in the music industry, the top stardom doesn't last long. As idol group members get older, it becomes harder and harder for them to maintain their popularity.

A drama production representative stated, 'When we cast popular idol stars in our dramas and films, we are able to broaden our audience and it becomes easier to attract investors. Now days, the audience for our dramas are not only Korean citizens but people worldwide so casting a popular K-Pop star will only be helpful to the drama in aspects of financial gains and drama popularity; which is why we prefer to keep casting idol group members. On the other hand, idol group members know themselves that their music career is very limited so they also prefer to broaden their work field and begin their acting careers.'
Recently however, idol group members who begin their acting careers are getting younger and younger. Even members of groups recently debuted have been training years before their debut to become actors. Why is this happening and when did this begin?

Representatives stated, 'It's hard for the artists to gain popularity and make their face known without acting.' It's almost impossible to get the names of the individual members known to the viewer's just by their appearances on music programs. As a result, idol group members often appear on talk shows and comedy shows in addition to their other busy schedules. Idol stars are resorting to acting because even with their hectic schedules, their popularity level remains the same.
One representative from an entertainment company stated, 'When they begin to act, they are able to reach out to teenagers as well as to the older audience so they are able to get their names out there by appearing in shows and dramas. On the other perspective, when idol stars appear in dramas and shows, the viewing rate goes up significantly so they prefer casting idol stars. This also applies to product endorsements.'

Another agency representative stated, 'When idol groups appear at individual events, the reaction of the audience is important. When idol stars appear at event in rural areas, the audiences are all senior citizens who have never heard of the idol stars before. Senior citizens don't watch music programs. Instead, they watch dramas and talk shows. This is a major factor in why idol groups are appearing in more and more shows and dramas.'

SNSD

Forget Kylie Minogue. Or Orianthi. Girls' Generation and Nicole Scherzinger are set to pump up the kicks at the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix 2012 this weekend.

The K-pop band of the moment and the top US pop star are set to take centrestage at Petronas Twin Towers on Friday, the same venue as the cancelled F1 Rocks entertainment extravaganza.
This will be Girls' Generation first ever concert in Malaysia after their successful promotional stint in the US last month.

As for Nicole, she has performed here twice with her former band, The Pussycat Dolls.

Australian pop diva Kylie is a no show following an alleged contractual dispute between Petronas, the chief organiser of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, and Enterprise Entertainment Ltd, the London-based company who owns the F1 Rocks franchise.
Industry sources have told The Daily Chilli authoratively that Girls' Generation and Nicole have just inked the deal to enthrall an estimated 70,000 crowd at the Malaysian F1 concert.

American R&B star Kelis, who was originally scheduled to perform on Saturday, will join the girls on Friday. Talk about more girl power!
The F1 concert is now repackaged as Twin Towers @Live 2012.

Yoona - SNSD

Happy Birthday Yoona!

Yes, May 30th is an epic K-pop b-day day, which I have anxiously eyed across the calendar all month; for Providence has seen fit to bestow upon the world on this same gracious date (though a year apart) both T-ara’s Hyomin and SNSD Lead Visual Yoona!
Yoona today turns twenty-two; and may all her subsequent days be as blessed as those she has beamingly bestowed upon her adoring globe thus far!

Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation Invade U.S. for YouTube Concert

K-pop's top groups have travelled to Tokyo, Paris, Bangkok and Sydney as part of the MBC Korean Music Wave shows. But Monday night's (May 21) concert was not labeled the San Francisco stop, but instead the "Google" stop. South Korean broadcasting network MBC, Google and YouTube held a concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre that was livestreamed through the "YouTube Presents" channel to celebrate their new content sharing partnership.

The concert opened to roars from the crowd with girl group Kara performing their high-energy dance track "Step;" a smart move if the planners were looking to hook new fans as "Step" is one of the more accessible tunes to come out of K-pop this year.
After Kara's introductory performance, viewers met the night's hosts Tiffany and Taeyon of Girls' Generation. The record breaking Girls' Generation TTS members also host a live music performance show on MBC and Tiffany speaks both fluent English and Korean acting as a translator for the groups making them appropriate MCs.

Five-member male group MBLAQ took the stage soon after with tight choreography throughout tracks like "Y" and "Oh Yeah." MBC must have sent some cameramen to shoot as the stream had the same calculated camerawork that makes live K-pop performances so enjoyable on television or YouTube being prepared for each intricate dance formation.

In a quick transition, Sistar came next with three of their biggest hits kicking off with "Alone," which controlled the Korea K-Pop Hot 100 chart for four weeks, with a set focused on strong vocals and their sexy demeanor. Member Bora spoke to the audience in English at one point.

The online viewership hit 100,000 just before the popular f(x) group began. Members Crystal and Amber spoke in English to the crowd, with Amber asking if they wanted to go the beach after the show.

Kara returned after f(x) to finish their set with two more songs followed by male group Beast. The group delivered on both the vocal and choreography ends, showing particularly fancy footwork on the sultry "Fiction." In a translated moment, one member asked viewers to watch the online content as Google, YouTube, and MBC were coming together to share it in great quality.

The California audience was as loud as ever, but the online viewership possibly spoke it loudest when about 115,000 viewers watched for Girls' Generation hit the stage; the largest viewership of the night. Beginning with their first English single "The Boys," the ladies pulled off their performance with just seven members as two were away filming. With a concert hosted by YouTube, it was only appropriate to end with their single that stands as the most watched K-pop video of all time, "Gee."
By the time the show closers TVXQ hit the stage, the online viewership was down to 97,000. But the joke would be on those who left as the unparalleled duo delivered one of the best sets. Member Changmin screamed to the audience in his signature wail, "Are you guys ready to get crazy?" before they eneded the concert with single "Rising Sun" as 89,200 online viewers ended the broadcast.

Surely not to be the last concert of its kind before officially signing off, with all the groups on stage together, host Tiffany gave a final prophesy for upcoming K-pop concerts, "We promise to return with better performances and better music in the future."
