Girls’ Generation Tease New J-pop Single With “Beep Beep” Music Video
It’s only been a couple of weeks since we got new music from Girls’ Generation (their Best Selection Non Stop Mix compilation, which recently debuted at No. 6 on the Oricon Chart), but The Divine Nine have already confirmed plans to return with a brand new single next month. On May 29th, the group will release their seventh Japanese single, “LOVE&GIRLS.” At this point, it’s unclear if the single is a standalone release, or part of a possible repackage of Girls’ Generation’s second Japanese album, Girls & Peace, which is something that fans have speculated. When “LOVE&GIRLS” does drop, it’ll come with a B-side called “Lingua Franca,” and best of all, a DVD with a music video for “Beep Beep,” which originally served as the B-side to “Flower Power.”
“Beep Beep” is easily one of the best songs to come out of Girls’ Generation’s Japanese sophomore album era, and it was unfortunate to see it miss out on making the album’s tracklist when some considerably less fabulous material made the cut.
The short version of the music video has already been unveiled online ahead of the official release of “LOVE&GIRLS.” It’s adorable and fun, with the colorful, cartoonish look of the group’s recent hit, “I Got a Boy,” but with less focus on being hip and more emphasis on being girly and kawaii.
Although Girls’ Generation have upgraded to a more mature image lately, “Beep Beep” proves that they can still pull off the cutesy shtick just as well now as back when they were promoting “Kissing You.”
